Roger and Mary-Ann Ruffell invite you to step aboard their
well-appointed vessel, "Stevo".
From 1981-1986, Roger and Mary-Ann operated a boat charter
business out of Havelock, so skipper Roger knows the Sounds and the outer Sounds
intimately, especially the prime fishing spots.
Qualified, friendly and professional, your skipper has a
great deal of local knowledge to ensure your complete satisfaction and safety.
Roger and Mary-Ann's boat, "Stevo", is 11.5
metre vessel with full MSA certification. Licensed to carry 12 people, "Stevo"
is 26 years old, although still feisty and with a character all its own. "Stevo"
cruises at 15 knots, taking about two hours to get from Havelock to the best fishing spots
in the outer Sounds. During the scallop season Roger carries a dredge on board so you can
try your hand at scalloping.
Roger has a great affinity for the Pelorus and Kenepuru
area. His great-grandfather was Captain Henderson, one of the first white settlers in the
Kenepuru Sounds. Captain Henderson was from a seafaring family, but in about 1845, gave up
the sea to go farming. In addition, both Roger's grandfather and his Uncle Ron ran boats
in Kenepuru Sound. |
